New RNA interference technique can silence up to 5 genes

RNAi is a natural process with exquisite specificity. The RNAi pathway is typically initiated by molecules referred to as small interfering RNAs (siRNAs). siRNAs are double-stranded RNA molecules that when
bound to a protein complex called the RNA Induced Silencing Complex (RISC) are able to down regulate, or silence, a single gene in a sequence-specific manner by degradation of the target mRNA.The RNAi process is initiated when a cell encounters dsRNA from an agent that enters the cellular cytoplasm such as viral RNA, a transposon, or microRNA. When this occurs, the RNase III-like protein Dicer is guided to the agent. Dicer cleaves the long dsRNA molecules into siRNA fragments 20 - 25 base pairs in length. The siRNA is then incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) where the duplex is unwound into two strands. One of these strands (the guide strand) pairs with a complementary mRNA sequence, resulting in site-specific cleavage and silencing of the mRNA message. As the mRNA is degraded, the siRNA-RISC complex is released to pair with another mRNA target. Degradation of the mRNA reduces expression levels of the corresponding protein, effectively downregulating (silencing) the gene without altering
the DNA. It is this down-regulating action of RNAi that make siRNAs attractive as both a research tool and a potential therapeutic mechanism for treating diseases characterized by abnormal protein production. Researchers at MIT and Alnylam Pharmaceuticals report that they have successfully used RNA interference to turn off multiple genes in the livers of mice, an advance that could lead to new treatments for diseases of the liver and other organs. Since the 1998 discovery of RNA interference — the naturally occurring phenomenon in which the flow of genetic information from a cell's nucleus to the protein-building machinery of the cell is disrupted — scientists have been pursuing the tantalizing ability to shut off any gene in the body. Specifically, they have been trying to silence malfunctioning genes that cause diseases such as cancer.

Biotechnology training in India|Bioinformatics projects|Final sem 6month Biotechnology projects|BDRC

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 27, 2009 – BDRC announces enrollment for final semester/final year projects. On the 25th year of DNA technology invention BDRC has decided to provide up 50% discount in all the training and project modules available with the company. The Training head of the company announced that we have adequate facilities and expertise in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Clinical Research Training. The present students group of our country passing out from the colleges lack in the real time practical skills and require intensive training with a sustainable project before starting a career with a Reputed Life science organization. The academic division of BDRC is involved with the service division of our company to gather all the present requirements in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, DNA Forensics and Clinical Research. We change our course modules every six months to cater the proper requirement of the present era Biotech/ life science organizations.

Head-training division said that the project training programs available with us are uniquely designed by our scientists which make us one of the best service providers in the market. We arrange workshops/conferences at our campuses or with collaborative/joint ventures within the country on a regular basis to create the awareness. If we can teach an undergraduate student what is a publication? What is patenting? Why do we require it?, the root of our country will be very firm and it will be the most lucky part if a student has 5-10 publications to his credit before he/she has completed the study. Every year we publish more than 5-7 student papers with their names and work to a reputed journal-it was concluded by the manager of the company.

BDRC has completed the training for more than 4000 people in the last 4 years. Universities/ colleges rush here for a chance of training their students with DNA Research Centre. Talking to the past trainees from the institute it was very clear that the institute has been giving what they are promising; we are exposed to the most practical environment and provided with excellent trainings and projects with politeness. Several students have travelled in other countries via BDRC to present their papers, Mr Pankaj kalra won the travel award and the best paper award at Singapore in the last session. The company organized campus placement programme last year, which proved to provide the milstones for them who got selected and presently hold a good position.

The present project training/ training programmes available with BDRC are suitable for all the students/ scientists who intend to work on

Recombinant DNA Technology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Immunoinformatics, Agricultural Biotechnology, Genetics, Microbiology, Drug discovery, Immunotechnology, Immunoinformatics etc

The projects are made available for a period of one month, two months, three months, four months and six months. For all the details of the company please visit the website http://www.dnares.in, http://www.bioaxis.in, http://www.dnares.in/trainings.php
