This technology has shown its promising role and many innocents have been freed from the bars. DNA Series conferences are initiative to strengthen the knowledgebase of the end users of DNA Fingerprinting and its advancements in Criminal Investigation and Judicial systems. DNA 2009 and 2010 were very well received events by participation of more than 650 attendees from different Investigation agencies, judicial agencies, Police departments, Scientists and the budding scholars. DNA Bill 2007 is drafted and India is stepping ahead to create its DNA Databank soon.
Important cases where DNA Technology was used in India are Rajiv Gandhi Murder case, Tandoor murder case, Beant Singh Case, Godhara case, Aarushi Murder case, Mangalore air crash, Kalka mail accident etc. The goal of the conference is to provide Attorneys, Medical Doctors and Law enforcement agencies, an understanding of the DNA fingerprinting technology, the challenges associated with it and the instances where it can be used. As a general rule of object of criminal law is to punish and not to compensate. DNA Testing can play very important role in violent crimes, conventional crimes, white collar crimes, Crime against women and children etc. Over the period of two days the event will cover subjects like Forensic DNA sample Isolation from various sources, DNA Profiling, DNA Testing and reporting, Forensic Bioinformatics, Low template DNA processing in laboratory and Future of Forensics, Touch DNA etc.  In 1985, Alec Jeffreys, discovered that each human has unique DNA with the exception of identical twins. When the National Research Council said in 1992 that DNA testing was a reliable method to identify criminal suspects, the technology rapidly entered the mainstream court system. It can also, by comparison of samples from putative parents and offspring, give equally indisputable evidence of parentage.

Welcome to the DNA 2011, the 3rd International Conference with the theme DNA Finger printing the past, present and the future. “Very often new break throughs are made and new technologies develop the whole direction of research and its impact”. DNA Fingerprinting is one such technology which has advanced and sophisticated the whole forensic science. From 1985 when this technology was first discovered by Sir Jeffreys and in 1988 by Dr. Lalji Singh in India it has helped in solving many challenges of Biotechnology research , Human Genetics, Crime investigation, Forensic science ..,& what not! It has not only helped in trapping the culprits but also acquitting many innocents. Slowly it has left its mark so deeply that many countries have either passed DNA Legislation or it is on table waiting to be passed like in India. DNA 2011 Conference is designed to provide a deep insight to DNA related technicalities and pertinent law and order to Forensic Scientists, Professionals working in Forensic Science labs, Forensic Doctors, Biotechnology Professionals, Police officers, Judiciaries, Law enforcement agencies, academicians, Researchers and students in the field of Forensic Science, Biotechnology and Medicine.
With the primary goal to promote Importance of DNA Finger Printing in Crime Investigation and Biotechnology research this conference is most reputed and one of its kind which has been successful in grabbing attention and adding quality to forensic science developments in India. In 2009 and 2010 more than 600 participants attended this conference from various parts of the world. In continuum with the success that the last two years of DNA series conferences have witnessed, DNA 2011- “The Science of DNA Fingerprinting the past, present and Future” is an excellent platform for sharing views and experiences in addition to network opportunity with others of immediate discipline as well as to be exposed to top professionals with whom they may not normally come in contact. Come and join the goal of taking India to another height of DNA Fingerprinting.
